Our Services
We offer a broad range of services to meet the varied needs of individuals, parents and whānau, schools, private companies and community service providers.
If you’d like to talk more about whether we’re the right ‘fit’ for your needs, please feel free to schedule a no-obligation, fee-free introductory call. These 15-minute consults are available to anyone wanting to know more about what we do and how we can help - and, if we aren’t able to meet your needs, we can very often steer you in the direction of someone else who may be better placed to help.
PLD and Community conversations
Te Wheke offers Professional Learning & Development (PLD) services. We specialise in training sessions on the science of learning, the science of reading, Structured Literacy Approaches (SLA) and tiered literacy intervention (Response to Intervention Model). We are very proud to be one of the Ministry of Education-approved providers for the Structured Literacy Approaches PLD.
Te Wheke provides training and professional development on a range of topics to tertiary education institutions, private organisations and private education service providers. The Te Wheke team can also contribute parent-friendly talks to whānau evenings hosted by schools and community service providers.
Cognitive, academic and behavioural assessment
We pride ourselves on conducting robust, responsive, in-depth assessments that produce clear results and useful recommendations. We have extensive experience in administering assessments to children, adolescents and adults to explore learning needs, language and literacy, mathematics, and behaviour.
Our assessment style is detailed and consultative. We work with you to build an assessment that will best suit your particular needs, and drive useful accommodations in your learning and life.
More information about our assessment offerings including a fee schedule can be found here.
Coaching and advocacy
Coaching and advocacy services can be arranged on an ‘as needs’ basis. This service is specific, tailored and individualised depending on the needs of the client. For example, coaching might be sought by parents who wish to implement new strategies or routines to support their child, or by clients seeking additional support to understand a recent diagnosis and their way of being in the world. Advocacy may be useful when communicating the results of an assessment to schools, universities, or workplaces.
Policy advice and development
Te Wheke offers policy and strategy development services to government and education providers. This may involve identifying key problems and needs, analysing system requirements, managing stakeholder consultations, developing solutions, and garnering support for new policy implementation.
Professional supervision
Te Wheke co-principal Amelia Volkerling offers professional supervision to fellow psychologists, professionals and other service providers including classroom and specialist teachers. Professional supervision can be conducted online or in person, and on an ad-hoc or regular basis.
