Cognitive, Educational & ADHD Assessments

Te Wheke provides assessments for children and adults: ~ Specific Learning Disorders ~ ADHD ~ Intellectual Disability ~ Learning Differences ~ Giftedness ~ Twice-Exceptional Learners ~ Neurodivergence ~

Many families and adults come to us when they’re worried about learning difficulties, struggling with reading, writing, maths, attention, or thinking patterns. We provide cognitive, educational, and psychological assessments across Aotearoa/New Zealand to help you understand what’s going on, and what to do next.

Te Wheke’s educational psychologists specialise in providing tailored cognitive, educational, and psychological assessments for children and adults. Our assessments aim to clarify learning profiles, understand learning difficulties and identify appropriate educational and/or workplace accommodations, summarised in user-friendly and neuroaffirming reports. Assessments can be exploratory in nature, or diagnostic, where we formally identify learning difficulties including Specific Learning Disorders such as dyslexia and dyscalculia, and neurodivergence such as ADHD, in both children and adults.

Every case is unique. We work collaboratively and responsively with individuals, schools, and whānau to provide comprehensive assessments that lead to practical, actionable recommendations, so individuals and families can move forward with confidence and clarity. Currently, we offer in-person assessments in Wellington, Wairarapa, Queenstown–Lakes, Tasman, and Auckland.

Assessment Packages

At Te Wheke, we are committed to providing in-depth assessments that result in useful findings and practical recommendations, while avoiding ‘over assessment’. We treat every referral as unique, and work with clients to ‘build’ an assessment package to best meet their needs. The cost of each assessment package, therefore, can vary depending on a client’s questions and needs. We will work with you to ensure your assessment package is fit for purpose, and provide a quote before we get started.

The following examples are some of our most frequently requested assessment types. Included in every package are the necessary assessment components (face-to-face work, interviews, questionnaires), a thorough analysis of results, a one-hour feedback session to discuss findings, and a written report.
