I highly recommend Amelia as a trusted resource for educators seeking targeted guidance on student support. - Kim, Educator & PLD Attendee
We are skilled in the art and the science of assessment for learning, and it sits at the heart of our business. Under this PLD, Te Wheke will cover the following topics:
Evidence informed practices
Equitable, inclusive, and accessible teaching and learning
Measuring outcomes and impact
Enabling infrastructure
Building capability
Tools and resources to support practice
This training is delivered over six full-day workshops. Ongoing support is then provided through eight Communities of Practice for each attending school over a 12-month period.
Structured Literacy Approaches
We have deep knowledge and experience in both training educators in SLA, and implementing SLA in education environments at Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3. Our training approach is evidence-based, engaging, practical, supportive and programme-neutral - we empower educators with the know-how and skills to roll-out SLA in their teaching context.
In this three-day training, we will cover:
Day 1: The ‘why’ of SLA including training in the science of learning including teaching strategies, the science of reading, comparing SLA with other literacy approaches, and the key components of SLA.
Day 2: The ‘how’ of a Structured Literacy Approach including training in assessment, phoneme-grapheme correspondences, morphology, handwriting, following a scope and sequence, reading accuracy (decoding) and spelling accuracy (encoding).
Day 3: The ‘doing’ of Structured Literacy Approaches is explored in an online training sessions where we deep dive into Phases 1, 2 and 3 of the refreshed SLA curriculum.
Three-full day workshops which can be attended in person and/or online. Follow-up coaching and support is provided through eight Communities of Practice (CoPs)
